July is Parks and Recreation month; we’re shining the spotlight on just a few of our members who work tirelessly everyday to ensure Maryland’s local and state parks are protected, preserved, and enjoyed by all Marylanders. Friends of Maryland State Parks’ vision is to raise awareness and appreciation of the “quality of life” benefits associated with the protection, preservation, improvement and expansion of our Maryland State Parks for current and future generations. Patterson Parks provides an oasis for Baltimore’s residents and wildlife to enjoy a natural setting and to create a close-knit community. Find out more about upcoming events including a Bike Jam, flea markets, summer concert series, and even a Halloween parade!
City Parks Alliance is the only independent, nationwide membership organization solely dedicated to urban parks. City Parks Alliance engages, educates and nurtures a broad-based constituency to support the creation, revitalization and sustainability of parks and green spaces that contribute to dynamic cities. The Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area participates in the Maryland Heritage Areas Program, which encourages Maryland residents, businesses, governments and nonprofit organizations to join together in broad-based, public-private partnerships to preserve, enhance, promote and celebrate their historic, cultural and natural resources. Celebrate Maryland’s history, visit one of the many historical towns and homes of those who experienced the American Civil War firsthand.
