Don't miss the opportunity to hear from 12 representatives of the region's biggest funders during three grantmaker panels at the Maryland Nonprofits Annual Conference. Check out the FUNDING/PHILANTHROPY learning area session lineup and the full #MANOAC18 agenda here.
PANEL 1: FOSTERING COLLABORATION THROUGH CONVENING AND GRANTMAKING
OCTOBER 4 AT 2:20 PM
Collaboration is critical to address a complex problem, yet collaboration itself can be complex! Incentives, opportunities, and funding are necessary to support nonprofit collaboration for the greatest good. This panel will explore the role funders can play in fostering collaboration among nonprofits, and ways funders collaborate with each other to broaden their impact to a systemic level.
PANEL 2: FOSTERING RACIAL EQUITY THROUGH GRANTMAKING
OCTOBER 4 AT 3:45 PM
This session will bring forward insights from grantmakers that are working to advance racial equity in their work. Panelists will share experiences in developing grantmaking practices that support organizations and outcomes that lead to equity. Panelists will discuss changes in relationship-building, proposal formats, grantmaking priorities, and strategic shifts that enable greater equity in grantmaking and in community outcomes.
PANEL 3: GETTING YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR WITH GRANTMAKERS (Friday, Oct. 5)
OCTOBER 5 AT 11 AM
This panel will discuss the best ways to approach funders for the first time. The “pre-proposal” relationship is absolutely critical to becoming a new grantee. The panelists will share information from their experience as grantmakers in working with first-time grantees and discuss the most effective ways to get noticed and get a proposal invited. We may even hear some humorous stories about what not to do, and how to polish your approach for best results.
