Maryland State Boychoir
Congrats to the Maryland State Boychoir for receiving a $35,000 grant from the France-Merrick Foundation! The support will allow the organization to install a much-needed Air Conditioning System in its Fellowship Hall in the MSB Center for the Arts. The Maryland State Boychoir had small beginnings in 1987 with founder Frank T. Cimino and a group of fourteen boys interested in the art of choral singing. The primary goal of the Boychoir program is to give boys in local Maryland communities the tools to build self-esteem, self-discipline and character. Twenty-nine years later, the Boychoir still embraces that goal but with 140 choristers. Today, the MSB offers a great number of programs, classes, and events. Activities include: performances in its Center for the Arts, voice lessons and theory training, winter and summer camps, and touring throughout the U.S. and abroad. The Maryland State Boychoir also hosts community events such as the Baltimore Boychoir Festival, the Goodwill Day Series, The Healing Power of Music Chorus, and other events that reach out to those in and around the community of Mayfield. The MSB focuses on helping those in need. The Maryland State Boychoir endeavors to improve the lives of its singers, and the patrons who attend their performances. The MSB accomplishes this by offering scholarships to choristers in need and performing for marginalized and underserved communities. A large portion of our organizational membership comes from single-parent homes and at-risk communities. The Maryland State Boychoir seeks to enhance the lives of its members and audiences.
