Maryland Raises $6.4 Million on #GivingTuesday 2015!

December 21, 2015

Thank you to the individuals, families, businesses, foundations, and nonprofits in Maryland who generously contributed your time and money on #GivingTuesday 2015.

As of Friday, December 17, 2015, Maryland Nonprofits is proud to report that Marylanders donated over $6.4 million to nonprofits. Marylanders should be proud of these numbers:

  • We’ve tallied $6,490,438.11 in donations made to nonprofits on #GivingTuesday 2015. Of that total, a full $4.1 million were grassroots volunteering efforts and financial contributions made directly to nonprofits. $2.3 million were foundation and state grants. AMAZING.
  • Volunteers donated a total of 8,624 hours – an increase of 1,300 hours from 2014. WOW.
  • Over 450 nonprofits from every county in the state participated in the #MDGivesMore campaign, an increase of 140 organizations from 2014. This can be attributed to local efforts like “Shore Gives More” and “Southern Maryland Gives,” as well as the growth of #GivingTuesday nationally. AWESOME.
  • Maryland businesses were noteworthy participants in #GivingTuesday 2015. Exelon facilitated volunteering and matched employee donations of $100 or more, totaling over $180,000 in donations. INCREDIBLE.

In the last two years that Maryland Nonprofits has coordinated #MDGivesMore on #GivingTuesday, nonprofits around the state have raised over $17 million to help Marylanders! We are already planning for #GivingTuesday 2016 and welcome new partners, more nonprofit partners and additional donor participation.
