ACTION ALERT: Support the Work Now Act!
The WORK NOW Act (S. 740 and H.R. 1987) is a temporary grants program that would inject $50 billion into public-serving nonprofits to enable them to pay the wages, salaries, and benefits of either existing employees or new employees. Most of the funds would be allocated through state, Tribal, and local governments.
This legislation is a priority of the broad nonprofit community in any future infrastructure or COVID recovery bill. We encourage you to TAKE ACTION now, following the steps below, to help secure inclusion of the WORK NOW Act in the economic stimulus and infrastructure legislation under consideration in Congress.
Nonprofits need a major infusion of resources to enable them to bring back staff and hire additional employees so they can deliver essential services for millions of Americans.
Ways to Take Action:
- Contact your Congressional Representatives and both U.S. Senators and urge them to cosponsor the WORK NOW Act and insist that it is included in any COVID-related stimulus legislation or future infrastructure package.
- Share Maryland Nonprofits social media posts about the WORK NOW Act (links below.)
- Send this message to your networks and ask them to take action, too!
