Maryland Nonprofits is proud to partner with Enterprise on the Thome Aging Well Project, an initiative designed to strengthen nonprofit capacity, advance equity, and support organizations working to improve outcomes for older adults across Maryland. This initiative is aimed at providing staff training and support that will lead to stronger, more sustainable, and culturally appropriate community-based organizations through a strategic partnership with Maryland Latinos Unidos (MLU).
As a part of this initiative, we are conducting a needs assessment to better understand the needs of organizations serving and working with older adults in our State. We will also be launching two targeted cohorts, each intentionally designed to meet organizations where they are and provide meaningful support through training, coaching, and peer learning/networking.
Help Shape the Experience — Complete the Needs Assessment Survey
We encourage organizations to complete our needs assessment survey, to better understand the issues facing organizations serving older adults in Maryland. We will gather information on specific interests, strengths, needs for staff capacity, organizational development, and sustainability.
The survey will help us:
- Identify key organizational needs and emerging trends
- Understand strengths and capacity gaps
- Ensure the cohorts address most urgent needs and provide meaningful support
🕒 Estimated time: 5–7 minutes
Complete the Needs Assessment Survey by March 13, 2026: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WH696C8
Launching Soon: Thome Aging Well Project Cohorts
We are excited to be launching two targeted cohorts as a part of this initiative that will create opportunities for learning, reflection, and peer connection while helping organizations strengthen their work in aging well. Through our strategic partnership with Maryland Latinos Unidos (MLU) we seek to strengthen organizations serving older adults in Maryland, both the long-term sustainability of smaller BIPOC-led nonprofits, as well as justice, diversity, equity, and belonging for larger nonprofits.
Organizations serving older adults in the following counties are eligible to apply for the cohorts: Anne Arundel, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Montgomery, and Prince George’s.
Cohort 1 — Smaller BIPOC-Led Nonprofits
Launching soon (6 month cohort, March – August 2026)
Cohort 1 is designed specifically for smaller BIPOC-led nonprofit organizations seeking to strengthen organizational capacity and expand their impact in aging-related work.
Participants will engage in:
- Pre-assessment to identify strengths, opportunities, and capacity-building needs
- Focused trainings aligned with organizational growth and aging well priorities
- Individualized coaching tailored to organizational goals
- Peer learning alongside organizations navigating similar opportunities and challenges
Apply for Cohort 1 by March 13: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8TGWFZM
Cohort 2 — Larger Nonprofits Focused on JDEI
Launching Summer 2026
Cohort 2 is designed for larger nonprofit organizations that are looking to actively advance Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (JDEI) within their leadership, programs, or organizational systems. More information on Cohort 2 will be provided later in the Spring.
We look forward to bringing together a strong learning community through the Thome Aging Well Project and supporting organizations that are working every day to help Maryland residents age well with dignity, equity, and connection.
