When individuals face barriers to healing, stability, and opportunity, meaningful support often requires more than a single program or service.
It requires community.
Since 2019, It Takes A Village Collaborative (ITAVcollab) has been building that community in Hyattsville and throughout Prince George’s County, creating spaces where Black women and justice-impacted individuals can access healing, wellness resources, and opportunities to move forward.
The organization’s work is grounded in a simple belief: when communities need support, showing up matters.
Through its community-centered wellness hub, ITAVcollab connects individuals with culturally responsive care, healing-centered reentry services, wellness programs, and supportive relationships.
Its approach is organized around two core pillars: Healing Justice and Integrative Wellness.
Together, these pillars address the interconnected challenges individuals may experience while navigating reentry, rebuilding relationships, accessing wellness services, and creating greater stability in their lives.
Through healing circles, wellness cohorts, and community-based programming, ITAVcollab creates opportunities for participants to strengthen their well-being, build confidence, and connect with others who understand their experiences.
The organization also works to bridge gaps between services that are often separated across traditional systems.
Rather than expecting individuals to navigate those systems alone, ITAVcollab helps connect people with resources and relationships that support their long-term well-being.
And the impact is measurable.
Since its founding, ITAVcollab has served more than 3,000 individuals, with more than 80% of its services provided at no cost.
Among tracked participants in its Healing Justice programming, the organization reports a 0% recidivism rate. Additionally, 85% of participants report adopting new wellness practices.
These outcomes reflect the value of sustained, relationship-centered support.
But ITAVcollab’s work is about more than numbers.
It’s about creating spaces where individuals feel supported, where healing is accessible, and where community members can build relationships that extend beyond a single program.
The organization recognizes that meaningful progress doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when people have access to care, resources, encouragement, and a community committed to walking alongside them.
That’s how It Takes A Village Collaborative gets it done.
By showing up, building trust, and connecting people with the support they need, ITAVcollab is helping create pathways toward healing, stability, and opportunity throughout Prince George’s County.
Because sometimes, getting it done takes a village.
