MALVEC Partners – Kelly Umaña
Kelly Umaña is the Health Program Manager at the Community Health and Empowerment through Education and Research (CHEER). CHEER is a community-based organization dedicated to organizing, advocating for, and expanding opportunities for Latinx and immigrant communities in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County, Maryland. Ms. Umaña's and CHEER's contributions to the Latinx community give hope and motivation to helping get Latinos vaccinated and protect them against COVID-19.
MALVEC Partners – Center of Help
The Center of Help has been giving back to the Latinx community in Annapolis since 1999. Their services have given Latinos the opportunity to get educated on learning, citizenship, and life post-education. The Center of Help's efforts to give back to the Latinx community has been key to getting Latinos vaccinated during these dire times.
MALVEC Partners – CASA
CASA is an organization that stretches over the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. CASA is filled with individuals who are dedicated to creating and expanding opportunities/resources for the Latinx community. Their efforts have been crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic in helping Latinos get vaccinated.
MALVEC Partners – Dr. Kathleen Page
Dr. Kathleen Page is an Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University's School of Medicine. Dr. Page's contribution to the Latino community has been insurmountable. Dr. Page leads the School of Medicine Taskforce on promoting research on equity and inclusion so those who are not proficient in English. Her partnership with MALVEC is a major necessity to helping accomplish our mission.
MALVEC Partners – Laura Gutierrez
Laura Gutierrez is the Hispanic Community Services Specialist in the Office of the Mayor in Annapolis, Maryland. Mrs. Gutierrez' work in Annapolis and the creation of Cuidate has helped reduced the number of COVID-19 cases. Her efforts are key to the overall mission of MALVEC to get the overall Latino population vaccinated.
MALVEC Partners – Carlos Rodriguez
Dr. Carlos Rodriguez-Diaz is an Associate Professor at George Washington University. Dr. Rodriguez is also the Director of of the Community-Oriented Primary Care Program in the Department of Prevention and Community Health, George Washington University – Milken Institute School of Public Health. His work in the efforts of educating individuals on COVID-19 is crucial to the efforts MALVEC exudes.
